    It’s Soft Shell Crab Season at Lenny & Joe’s…something that many of our Fans Shellebrate! We serve only the Fresh Whale Soft-Shell Crabs, the largest size available!
    Customers often ask “Why don’t we serve Softshell Crabs all year long like other restaurants do?” Answer: Fresh Soft Shell Crabs are usually available between early May and early October. We refuse to serve crabs that were frozen earlier in the season. We serve the crabs only when we can source them FRESH. You’ll TASTE the DIFFERENCE!

    Scallops: Dry vs. Wet
    Among the many different kinds of sea scallops available, there are two different methods that scallops are sold on the market- dry and wet.
    At Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale we select and serve only fresh dry sea scallops
    Wet scallops are commonly treated with Phosphates which is a preservative. When scallops are soaked in phosphates, they absorb water making them weigh more (Take in mind, that you are paying for added water.) The absorbed water evaporates during cooking and, in turn, shrinks your scallops leaving them smaller, dry and somewhat tasteless. Furthermore, the added water does not let scallops brown properly when we broil them for our scallop casseroles.

    Dry scallops are all wild and natural. They are not treated with any chemicals whatsoever. They are harvested directly from the ocean, shucked on deck, and the rushed into distribution. Dry scallops caramelize naturally during broiling. And, as you might have guessed, there is no cost-added water weight with dry scallops
